Overall Description:
Tall and strong, Tarion cuts an impressive figure, a lifetime of hard work etched into strong muscle and calloused hands. His body is well defined and Tarion works to keep it that way, making sure to keep a good amount of general exercise as well as more specific work practicing his skills with a bow and a knife and keeping Zora well exercised herself.
Tarion has a good share of scars, as should be expected from a man who grew up in an active mine. There are a myriad of tiny scars, little more than nicks and cuts now, over his arms. A pair of longer scars run down his left shoulder from just before the joint to the bottom of his shoulder blade, and another scar, short but noticeable, runs over his right hip bone. There is a thin scar over his thumb from his initial blooding of Tarisk, which he tends to run at while thinking.
His hair is thick, slightly curly and worn fairly short, with just enough length to make the curls sit messily. No matter what he does to try and tame them, Tarion's hair always settles back to a wild and tousled look.
Tarion's eyes are green-hazel in colouring. They are predominantly a pretty green shade, with touches of brown around his pupil.
Personality
Likes:
- Tarisk
- Having everything in it's proper place
- Animals in general
Dislikes:
- People who leave things laying about
Strengths:
- Caring
Weaknesses:
- compulsive neatness
Overall Description:
Tarion is a man with a big heart. He finds it very easy to give of himself and he is happiest when he is doing something that is of benefit to someone. He is lucky to have Tarisk to remind him that he also needs to take time and do things which are just for himself as well, else he would likely have burned himself out long ago.
What started out as a consideration for his wher, keeping everything around her in their home neat and tidy so that she would never have to worry about tripping over or stepping on something and would always know where everything was so that she could avoid running into things, has become an almost compulsive habit for Tarion. He hates to see things out of place and his fingers will twitch to put things to rights, even when in someone else's home. Sometimes he simply can not help himself and you can catch him straightening a crooked hanging or moving something just enough so that it is inline with everything else.

Background:
Age 0 - 5
The second child of a miner and his wife, Tarion grows up in a small mining community, where his mother works as the butcher and his father works on the night shift. Given his father sleeps during the day, Tarion spends much of his time playing outside, learning about the world around him.
Age 5 - 12
No hand is idle in a mine hold, especially not one as small as High Mountain. From the moment he is walking steadily and gripping things solidly. At first he does simply fetch and carry chores, like the other children. His mother teaches him to handle a knife, teaching her son how to gut and clean a kill, how to remove a hide intact and how to prepare it. Then he learns to set traps to catch small creatures, and then how to use a bow to hunt larger ones.
Age 12 - 14
Given where he grew up and who his parents are, it was expected of Tarion that he would become a miner when he came of age, and he did not disappoint. Right from the start, Tarion was more interested in how a mine was put together than in the act of mining itself. He is taken under the wing of the mine's sole wherhandler, a man whose specialty as a miner is the safety of the
When he is fourteen, his mentor's wher runs and is caught by a visiting Kuroi. The Kin lays a clutch of 4 eggs, a large one for such a small wher. The wher insists that Tarion be given one of the eggs, while several others, both from within the mining community and several who traveled from nearby areas, for the remaining three.
When the eggs hatch, the largest egg, Tarion's egg, hatches a pair of Kin. The larger twin climbs over the smaller as she escapes the shell, slashing her across the face. The smaller Kin calls out for Tarion, while the larger stalks away uncaring, picking out one of the outsiders. Tarion goes to the smaller wherlet, holding her and whispering for her to calm and that the healers are coming and they will make the hurt go away.
Though the healers do their best, Morask's claws had done irreparable damage to Tarisk's eyes, leaving the baby wher largely blind.
Age 14 - 16
These turns are not easy on Tarion. Learning to care for a baby wher is not an easy task at the best of times. For Tarion, things are more difficult, navigating the troubles of caring for a wher who is growing up blind. He learns to keep everything neat, finding a particular and permanent place for each thing so that Tarisk can learn where everything is and not have to worry about running into things.
Tarisk may not be able to see, but she has an excellent sense of smell, far better than that of her mother or of the Kuroi who impressed to one of the other miners. In a place as small as the mine hold, all must earn their keep, and when Tarisk's usefulness is called into question, Tarion reminds everyone that a wher does not need to see to know when something smells bad in a mine, and that her excellent sense of smell will also make her an able guard wher should the need arise. As long as she is with him, able to look through his eyes to see the obstacles ahead, she is no more likely to run into anything than any other wher.
Age 16 - 18
Tarisk makes her first run, challenging her clutch mate Ganesk, the only male in the area, to catch her. He does so and when he catches her, Tarion and Ganera, who had been talking, find themselves in a very compromising situation. Nine months later, Ganera has a child, a daughter they name Tarigan. Ganera is significantly older than Tarion and a journeywoman in her own right. Though it is suggested by several people that she should be made an honest woman of and handfast with Tarion, the woman refuses such ideas, calling them stupid and outdated traditions which she wants no part of.
Tarion's mother catches the winter coughing sickness shortly before Tarion turns seventeen. She does not recover and eventually passes away during the night as spring begins to touch the land. Some months afterwards, his father simply disappears without a trace.
Ganera falls pregnant a second time, this time due to intimate relations had with Tarion outside of run-lust. She births a second daughter, whom they name Nerian.
Age 18 - 20
The mine falls on hard times, with a blockage in the seam of coal producing a long delay in operations and their hunters finding less game to catch to supplement the supplies they can trade for. Feeding three whers becomes a problem and the decision in made by the leaders to turn one of them loose. It comes as little surprise to anyone that it is the Tarion and Tarisk, the most recent journeyman and his damaged wher, who are asked to leave. With both parents gone, his brother at another minehold and his sister long since taken to the main smith hall in Telgar, there is little to keep him there besides his daughter.
Before he leaves, Ganera speaks with him. With the recent hardships which have befallen the mind-hold, she confesses that she is worried for the health and safety of Tarigan and Nerian. She asks Tarion to take the girls with him, to find safe work somewhere and raise their daughter with care. Though she does not speak of it, Tarion knows she fears her own health is failing, for he had heard the wheeze and rattle of coal-lung in her body at night.
Travelling to a gather in the hopes of finding someone looking to hire a wher-guard, Tarion finds himself buying a young runnerbeast mare. The blue roan is the first such creature he has found who had not immediately shied away from the scent of Tarisk which lingers about his person and he has need of a riding beast who can stand to be around his wher. Such a creature would make their travels infinitely easier, taking the weight of the children and their few belongings from Tarisk. She is named Zora and while she is somewhat skittish about being actually near Tarisk at first, she soon enough learns calm around the small Kin.
As the autumn beings to herald the start of winter, Tarion finds himself standing before Sabishi Weyr. Surely the Weyr would not turn them away. Surely there must be a place somewhere within for a blind wher and her handler. He was a certified journeyman, with a specialty in building and structures. Surely the Weyr could make use of his skills. Indeed, he, his wher and his daughters are welcomed to Sabishi, Tarion finding himself quickly added to the guard schedules and given the task of finding a safe method of expanding the storerooms.
