Overall Description:
At five feet and six inches in height, Rain is fairly average in height, tending perhaps a little towards the shorter side of average. She carries her weight on her chest and hips, leaving her with a feminine figure. Her figure is a narrow hourglass, hips in line with her shoulders and narrower at the waist.
Rain is a pretty girl, and she knows it. She dresses well, showing off and emphasizing her curves and lean muscles whenever possible. She might not have access to much in the way of supplies of clothing, but she does her utmost to ensure that what she does have, she looks good in. Rain prefers pants and blouses over skirts and dresses, though she does own a few. Dresses and skirts are generally saved for feasts where she is not expecting much in the way of trouble and those times when she has to be at her most overtly feminine in order to get something she needs.
Her hair is a pleasant light to mid blond in colour, hanging in natural soft curls. She keeps her hair at shoulder length, long enough to be easily pulled back if it's needed, though she prefers to leave it hanging loose. On special occasions though she has been known to take the time to tame the wild curls and secure it back in intricate patterns.
Rain has a few scars. Most of them small and simple, the kinds of marks that anyone will pick up over the course of their life. There is a longer scar along the outside of her left foot where she once cut it open on a sharp rock when she was young and a small scar at her hairline just beyond her left ear where she cut herself after tripping and falling into the corner of a table in the Harper Hall.

Overall Description:
Rain is someone who does not fit neatly into any of the little boxes which society likes to label people with. She's a loud and exuberant extrovert, who also has a good set of brains to her, and a capacity for deep and profound thinking that often surprises people.
Rain would not seem to be the obvious choice for a spy. Her vocal nature and tendency to draw attention to herself would seem counter productive, and yet, she has been rather successful. The trick lays in that very fact. The best spies are the ones which no-one would expect. While your watching Rain and whatever she's up to, she's watching you right back, tracking your reactions and drawing conclusions from what you do in response.
Children are something Rain has mixed feelings about. On the one hand, she has a strong dislike of babies, on the other, once a child is walking, talking and taking care of itself, she finds them rather compelling. Perhaps it is because children are such demanding creatures in her mind, and older children can interact right back while she sees babies as simply an unfortunate stage where all they can do is cry and make a mess. She would never be cruel to a baby, she simply does not like them and avoids them when she can.
Despite this, she does have a soft spot for baby animals. Baby people and babies of other kinds seem not to have a connection in her mind, perhaps in part because most young animals, while still reliant on their parents, can take some level of care of themselves fairly swiftly after coming into the world.
One of Rain's less pleasing qualities, is her tendency towards holding a grudge. Forgiveness is not a state which Rain finds easy to come by. Though it is hardly intentional, she tends to cling to old hurt and anger rather than letting go and moving on quickly as others might.
History
Mother: Yavoni
Father: Unknown
Siblings:
Probably has a bunch of half siblings around the place, but she doesn't know any of them
Children:
None
Background:
Rain's mama was, in Rain's own words 'not the brightest glow in the basket'. The old aunties used to say she was just smart enough to go getting herself into trouble, and, given her own existence, Rain would be inclined to agree once she was old enough to understand.
Age 0 - 5
Yavoni's baby girl is born on a stormy day, so, naturally, her mother named her Rain. It does make a certain kind of sense, though it hardly follows the traditional naming patterns of pernese convention. Not that it would have been easy to do so anyway, for Yavoni has no idea who the father of her child is, simply referring to him as 'the handsome fellow'. With her mother always working, and it not really being reasonable to expect the woman to be able to care for a child anyway, Rain is raised largely by the old aunties of the holding, who are delighted to have a little girl to fuss over.
Age 5 - 12
As soon as she was considered to have a reliable grip and be old enough to understand orders, Rain was put to work in the kitchens. Her mama was a drudge, her mama's mama had been a drudge and nothing more was expected of Rain but her to be one as well. However she does get to take part in the harper lessons along with the other hold children and she enjoys them greatly.
When the harper in charge of teaching Rain her letters and basic math catches Rain drawing instead, Rain expects to be punished. Instead he praises her work and asks her to draw more for him. Rain is delighted by a chance to draw, and fascinated by the materials he gives her to do so. He asks her to draw more and more with each lesson, until the day comes when he offers her an apprenticeship. he says he had sent her work to the Master who was in charge of him and that the lady had approved his request to offer Rain a place in the CraftHall.
Age 12 - 14
Life in the crafthall is very different anything Rain had been through before now. Having been accepted as an apprentice artist, Rain never quite fit in with the majority of the apprentices, who often expressed opinions of her not being a real harper. For the most part Rain ignores them, though there are a few scuffles and outright fights when the opinions get a little too personal.
It was at this age when Rain began to realise that not everyone could understand the whers who guarded the holds and halls the way she could. There had been a wher in her home holding whom she often spoke to at night, and in the hall she had found a comfort in speaking with the Chairo who guarded the Harper Hall and his Sakura mate. Or the lone Aoi who watched over Fort Hold and the young Murasaki who looked after the Healer Hall in the night.
Age 14 - 18
Rain encounters a rather shabby looking man loitering outside the Harper Hall one night. She follows him as he walks through the hall, calling to the Sakura on duty and warning her of the intruder. The wher insists that the man is known to her, but Rain track him anyway, thinking there is something suspicious about someone who is sneaking into the hall in the middle of the night. She follows him to the Master's office and then waits outside, hidden in the shadows, as the man enters. When the Master them-self comes out and draws her back to their office, Rain is startled.
The man is one of the Master's many trained informants and he has been impressed by the care she showed in tracking him through the hall, and with her ability to speak to the whers of the hall. He insists that she shall come and learn from him, honing natural talent into a true gift. Eager for something new and different, Rain agrees.
Age 18 - 19
Rain graduates from her training, both as an artist and in her more secretive work, being promoted to journeywoman. Getting picked up on search not long after was not planned, but it was a perfect opportunity for her and she accepted the search. Being both a willing candidate and someone from one of the few places which supported the weyrs, Rain was not a kidnapping case and her people knew exactly where she was and why she was there.
