Overall Description:
General - Emori is, by most accounts, a fairly handsome man. At an even six feet tall, Emori does not tower like some of the men of the weyr do, but he is certainly taller than is average. He has a trim figure, lithe rather than bulky when it comes to his musculature.
Skintone - Well tanned by turns of work outdoors.
Scars - Emori has his share of scars, mostly minor. The majority are found on his hands and forearms, little cuts from mishandled knives and small burns from hot obejects.
Hair - Thick and dark, Emori's hair hovers somewhere between black and brown, the colour lightening or darkening towards one end or the other of the spectrum depending on how much time he had been spending outside. For now there is no sign of grey and Emori expects to keep his hair colour well into his ageing, for both his parents failed to go grey for a long time.
Eyes - Though most children's eyes darken as they age, even those who keep the blue-colour, Emori's did not, remaining the same bright shade of blue that he had when he was born. His lashes are dark but also quite thin, resulting in their not showing up as noticeably as another's might where they the same colour.
Body-Dominance - Right
Clothing - Emori prefers comfortable, hard-wearing clothing. His job requires a fair amount of physical work and he never knows when he might be called in to deal with something. As a result, he tends to wear things which don't easily stain and which can take something of a beating.

Overall Description:
Competent - Emori might be male, but do not think for one moment that this means he is not just as effective at his job as a woman might be. The head of domestic affairs within the weyr, second only to the weyrwoman herself when to comes to the weyrfolk, Emori wields a great deal of power, power that traditionally rests in female hands. Fortunately for him, Sabishi has never been particularly hung up on the concept of tradition. Appointed by the weyrwoman before Haruka, Emori has proven time and time again that he is the right person for the job.
Social - Emori is a people person. Highly sociable, Emori loves to be surrounded by the chaos of people. From the most mischievous of weyrbrats to the oldest of aunties and uncles, from the youngest candidates to the most high and mighty of riders and handlers, Emori cares for them all.
Organised - Highly organised, Emori is a man who enjoys making lists and taking stock of the weyr's supplies. His talent for keeping track of supplies and what the weyr has an has not received in tithe, as well as a quick mind and tongue when it comes to haggling with traders and suppliers, stands Emori in good stead when it comes to his work.
Steady - A calm and steadfast man, Emori is difficult to shock or unsettle. He's been watching over the weyr and it's people for turns, since long before he gained the position of responsibility he now has. He often feels himself to have seen it all before, to be watching events playing out over and over again with only slight variations. The people may change, but humanity remains the same. There is always the child who dreams of great things, the stolen candidate who wishes to be anywhere but where they are. The old man whose glory days are long behind him. There are those impress and those who end up as he did, leaving the sands as nothing more than they entered them. Emori has watched it all, and done his best to comfort those who needed it and steer events into more positive paths.
Ashamed - Even now, decades away from the sea-hold boy he once was, Emori is still somewhat ashamed of his seasickness. Though he still loves the sea, he avoids trips to sea-holdings, sending his assistants whenever possible. There is always a touch of jealousy when he sees ships on the water, bringing back thoughts of his childhood when his father and his brother had so openly loved the sea and sailing while he had been violently ill from the moment he so much as set foot upon a ship.

Background:
Age 0
The first of Emojai's children, Emori is born while his father is at sea. Yaneri had been caught out in a storm and the Siren Song damaged, leading to his being trapped in another port rather than home with his pregnant wife as he had been planning to be. The boy is born with a full head of dark hair and blue eyes, just like his mother.
Age 5
In a Seaholding, it is considered a terrible thing to suffer from seasickness. From a young age, Emori shows a distressing tendency to become ill when in any kind of sailing vessel. He can swim just fine, but even the smallest of single man boats or the largest of multi-person ships provoke the same reaction in him. Though it is hoped that he will grow out of it, Emori continues to suffer from seasickness, though he can swim just fine.
Age 12
When Emori reaches apprenticeship age, it has long been obvious that he will never make a fisherman. When the other boys his age are begining to learn the intricacies of sailing, Emori finds himself taken under his mother's wing in the kithens. Emojai is no ordinary hold woman working in the kitchens to feed her family. She is a craft-cook and she is determined that, since her son will never be heir to his father's skills, he shall instead be heir to hers.
Age 15
Emori is out searching for spiderclaws when a deep brown creature, previously unnoticed in the skies due to Emori's preoccupation with finding the small creatures he had been sent out to find, swoops down upon him. The tall man on the dragon's back scoops him up, easily overpowering Emori's awkwardly skinny teenage self. Before Emori can truly process what is happening to him, they are airborn, and then swiftly gone between.
The rider dumps Emori in the care of the Candidatemaster without ever saying a word. It is up to the old Kuroi rider to explain to Emori where he is and why he is there. Emori refuses to accept that he is trapped here and immediately begins to plan an escape.
Days stretch into weeks, week stretch into months and months stretch into turns. Emori is foiled at every turn when he attempts to slip from the weyr. The kitchens become his refuge, Emori continuing his apprenticeship under the Weyr's head cook. The time he spends in the kitchen is time when he feels close to his memories of his family, using the skills he first learned under his mother's watchful eye.
Age 18
Emori finally begins to accept that he is at the Weyr to stay. It has been turns and though he has not impressed, neither has he been even in the smallest part successful in his attempts to leave. As he finally begins to come to terms with his imprisonment, he meets a young woman by the name of Rynnai, the rider of Kuroi Norikath. Though Nokirath likes Emori well enough as a person, his tendency to chase every female which rises puts a strain of Emori's relationship with Rynnai. Emori might have begun to adjust to living within the weyr, but his views on sexual contact and relationships are still veyr firmly those he was raised with in Tomoka Seahold, while Rynnai prefers to embrace an open sexual lifestyle.
Rynnai learns that she is pregnant shortly after she and Emori decide that they would be better off as friends. As Norikath has only been catching females ridden by women of late, Emori is the only option for the identity of the father of the child. When Rynnai eventually gives birth to a baby girl, they name her Moryna.
Age 20
As his early twenties slowly pass him by, Emori begins to wonder if the Chairo who stole him might have made a mistake. After so many turns of standing each time there is a clutch, and no bond to show for it, Emori finds himself worrying. Though he was initially against the idea, he has not only come around to it, he has begun to truly wish to become a rider, to have the bond which he sees his friends have with their dragons.
Age 25
Emori's final turn as a candidate seems to pass him by in a flash. This is in part because he breaks his arm in the early part of the turn and is subsequently removed from the sands until the bone is healed.
Age 26
With the end of his days as a candidate, Emori is at a loss as to what to do with his life. While he could in theory return to the holding he was born to, he knows that he is far to much weyrfolk now to ever truly fit in with the holders. His interactions with the recently searched and stolen have made that abundantly clear to him. As well, returning to the seahold would mean leaving his children behind, something he is loathe to do.
In the end, Emori finds himself settling into the one place he has always felt welcomed and needed in the weyr, the kitchens. As his organisational skills and other talents become known, he finds himself called upon more and more to assist the Headcook and even the Headwoman herself.
Age 30
Having proven himself able in both cooking large meals for events such as hatching feasts and graduations, planning and providing for general weyr meals and proven his skills in his preferred specialty dishes, the Head Cook advocates among his peers for Emori to be promoted to Master Rank.
The Headwoman retires, finding her advancing age beginning to catch up to her and the work of the position becoming too demanding on physical resources which are no longer what they were. To Emori's eternal surprise, not only does she nominate him as her replacement, the Weyrwoman acts on it and promotes him as the new person in charge of the domestic side of the weyr.
Age 35
The Weyrwoman steps down when it becomes clear that her queen is not going to rise again, leaving young Haruka and her Nagith as the only rider of a full queen within the weyr. Emori does his best to ease the weyr through the time of transition. Fortunately it is not long before the queen rises, and a new weyrleader is chosen. Even better, the resulting clutch contained an egg with the green tint commonly known to contain a Midori within. Soon the weyr had another tue queen, and a little weight is lifted off everyone's shoulders.
At the gather, Emori purchased a firelizard egg, an indulgence he had been thinking on for quite some time, before finding himself drawn to a pen filled with half-grown Mreeow, all of an age to form a bond with a human. Though he didn't intend to take one home, merely to have a look at them, a tawny lion come to him, putting his paws up on the fence and declaring that Emori was his person now. Fortunately the headman had enough left of the marks he'd allowed himself for this gather, to buy the kit. By evening his firelizard egg has hatched, producing a rather large Shiroi, whom he names Pearl.
