Appearance
Eye Color: dark brown
Hair Color: grey
Height: 5' 11"
Build: slim
Overall Description: Feravor is a scruffy older gentlemen, but he has aged well. His hair is cropped short and while it used to be a rich black, his age has led to more grey than he cares to admit. He also favors a scraggly beard, more from lack of shaving than actual choice.
His face has a rakish air to it., with a bearing that seems to put people at ease when he is around. While his voice has gone gravelly with age, he has worked to always speak in a soothing and calm tone. It's rare that this man raises his voice, unless he is berating his Wher or calling for supplies.
He is about average height, and slender due to his level of activity, almost underweight as he has tendencies to forget to eat unless prompted. His hands are actually somewhat feminine, thin, with long fingers perfect for his career of choice.
Personality
Likes: Feravosk, living in the Weyr, Healing
Dislikes: children, Harpers, Firelizards
Strengths: Healing, bedside manner, able to keep himself together after losing his dragon.
Weaknesses: depression from death of dragon, working with Dou dragons and Whers.
Overall Description: Feravor is a naturally soft spoken man, as he finds a quiet and calm tone is the most conductive to keeping his patients from panicking while he is treating them. The man is quite devoted to his work as a Healer, and not even Impressing and later losing a dragon has stopped him.
He is overall more fond of gentlemen, but every once in a while, the odd lady is able to turn his head. He doesn't mind Flights, and has has his fair share of partners since Impressing. He has never considered forming any serious relationships, simply because he has never found anyone who he developed any sort of feelings for. His work and his Wher provide all the love the man needs.
He doesn't do well with children, even when Healing, as he finds them irritating and a waste of his time. They are nothing more than loud, messy distractions from his work in his opinion. He isn't aware of any children he has sired and doesn't care to find out, as he doesn't want to be a fatherly type. Leave that to the woman folk, as far as he is concerned.
After Seloth died, it took some time for him to be able to work again, especially on dragons. Now though, Feravosk has practically replaced him in Feravor's heart, and the bond between the pair mended most of the hole left by Seloth. He still misses his dragon, as what dragonless man wouldn't. However raising and training Feravosk and his continued work as a Healer has kept him busy enough to not dwell on it. He still has a hard time if he has to work around a Dou dragon or Wher as it still tears at the raw wound left by Seloth's death.
History
Mother: Vorena
Father: Feramal
Siblings: Brother- Malvo, Sister- Vera
Children: none
Background: Feravor was born in the springtime in a small cot hold near Lemos, and from a small age found pleasure in helping the Hold's Healer with his various tasks. When he was found to have an aptness for Healing, the Healer put in to have him Apprenticed at Healer Hall.
His time at the Hall was pretty standard. He kept quiet and stayed out of trouble as Healing was his passion. He was promoted to Sr. Apprentice at 16 and Journeyman at 18. His first Posting was working in Sabishi Weyr, helping out the current Healer.
On his first turn at the Weyr, he was with the Healer as a Clutch was due to hatch, and they were on hand to treat any injuries. Feravor wasn't paying attention to the actual dragons, so didn't notice that a Dou had hatched and was heading towards them.
The Weyr Healer nudged the boy, pushing him towards the dragon. Feravor furrowed his brow in confusion as he was just supposed to spend a turn or two Healing, not becoming a rider. He had never had any inclination to Riding even. But the dragon doesn't lie and Seloth bonded with the teen, making him F'vor of Dou Seloth.
This didn't stop him from his passion though, and as soon as he graduated Weyrlinghood, he went right back to healing. He has never obtained the Master rank he dreamed of, but he was happy to be able to practice his Craft over the turns.
He planned on living out his days as a Healer of dragons and men, with no higher aspirations.
Then, disaster struck. His beloved Seloth got sick. Feravor lost days of sleep, trying to find a cure before he lost his dragon. Alas, he was too late and Seloth had no choice but to go between, leaving Feravor behind.
Although all that he wanted to do was sink into a depression, he knew his calling as a healer, so he pushed through and kept on surviving.
Without his dragon, he wanted to leave the Weyr. His friends convinced him to stay though. He was still a Healer though, so was well accepted among the Weyrfolk. One of his associates even talked him into accepting a Wher egg, as (in their opinion) it was just like having a new dragon.
Whers aren't as picky as dragons of course, so when his egg hatched into a Shiroi wher, he was able to Bond with it, even though his dragon had been a Dou. Feravor felt almost like a new man, when he felt the mind of Fersk touch his.
Two turns passed, and he and his Shiroi Wher, who due to the strength of their bond is now called Feravosk, are closer than ever. Feravosk just had her Run, and is starting to get egg-heavy.
