Look! Eggs! [Open] [Firelizard Intro]

Haruka glanced over her shoulder as N'rim came up. She leaned back against him briefly. While she didn't harbor any love for the man, she was fond enough to be affectionate towards him. " Firelizards. Can you believe it? Iruth saw them with her own eyes." She grinned. " So what do ya say? How do you want to go about handing these out? Just grab the first people who walk by, or did you want to give them to someone in particular?" She asked.

Nagith however, had her own agenda on the matter. Firelizard Eggs in the kitchens. She broadcasted to everyone in the Weyr. Come down if you want to get on. She didn't bother to say how many there were. At least this way, only the ones who were interested in them would come.

There are 13 eggs. Two of them are going to the Weyrleaders, and one to the Rider who located them. Please pick an unclaimed number, and later in the Thread, I will have your lizard Hatch. For the moment, it is one per player(with an exception for Nomi, being the Weyrleader) Once each player picks an egg, then I will allow more characters to get them. Contents have been randomized. Eggs might also contain mutants.

Itessi was just finishing kitchen duty when she saw them come in and her curious nature got the better of her. Sneaking close she listened to them talking she began to get excited. There were thirteen eggs and they were thinking of giving them to random people? With the booming dragon voice in her mind she walked forward softly and tapped the Weyrwoman on the shoulder softly. Looking at her with large, joyous eyes she smiled.

"Weyr woman I have read sooo much about firelizards...would you consider me for one? It doesn't have to be a big one but I've always wished to find one. I know all about how to care for them and I'd be more than happy to get meat ready for all the rest as well if it would help." she was fairly singing as she said this and bouncing from foot to foot in pure excitement. The records said they were similar to dragons in that they impressed and they communicated mind to mind, not to mention they were tiny by comparison and cute beyond reason. They made great messengers and had been known to carry warnings. Unlike dragons they did not impress based on the person so much as whoever fed them first so it was a bit different.

"They are so very tiny and beautiful aren't they?"

Khetzar had been scrubbing pots when the Headwoman began to yell about needing baskets and sand, and he paused briefly to take a look. They had eggs, and he kept his ears open once he turned back and continued to scrub. Could they really be firelizard eggs?

He wasn't sure, but if they weren't, he couldn't imagine the sort of trouble the rider would be in. It would be a bit funny though, if they hatched into tunnelsnakes, but it wouldn't be much fun.

However, when the dragon spoke, informing the whole weyr that there were eggs in the kitchen, Khetzar couldn't help but go over. Even if he didn't get one, it would be incredible to watch them hatch, first hand knowledge of a species that hadn't been seen in turns.

He moved towards the front, as close to the egg baskets as he could without being too close. They were incredible, and he wished he could reach out and touch one. Maybe he could have touch some of the shell shards once the creatures had hatched.

"I'd like to have one," he said, figuring that he might as well try. The worst that could happen was that they could say no, and that was okay too. He'd still get to see them, and if these were firelizards, then there would be more eggs. Even if he had to wait until these ones matured and laid their own. He could wait that long.

Zuri smiled at Itessi when she spotted the other young woman. The dark skinned woman nodded along as Itessi spoke of what she knew of firelizards. All of that seemed right according to what Zurianna had read in the old records. It was always good to see another person who appreciated the records and the information they held, even though she knew that Itessi did not specialise in field the way Zurianna had.

"They should impress to whoever feeds them" Zuri replied to Haruka's question even though it was not aimed at her, as she selected an egg and the girls helped her to move it out of the way of the others who were making their choices. "The records say that they weren't picky about how they chose to impress to, though they also say that they wouldn't stay with a bad master"

Z'tan had heard Nagith's call but had ignored the Midori's words. Her claim of firelizards wasn't one he believed. In his fifty odd years, he'd heard people claim before to have found some of the mythical miniature dragons. When he had been a young man he had hoped that they might prove to be real, but he thought himself to know better now. Stories often had a basis in fact, but sometimes stories were just stories and even if firelizards had once been real, they were long ago gone.

Z'tan? Can we go and see? Elizabeth's voice was soft and pleading, a tone which they both knew Z'tan couldn't say no to. The Gin was a soft dragon and loved babies of all kinds. Even if these were not firelizards, as her believed, they would still be little ones who she could watch through his eyes. And if Iruth's and Nagith's were right, and these really were little cousins, then she really really wanted to at least see them, and possibly even convince her rider to get one.

The man in question huffed, but he put down the reports he had been reading. There wasn't anything in them which would be time sensitive and require immediate reading. He could afford to take a bit of time to indulge his better half. Z'tan might not think there to be firelizards, but he would admit to being interested to see whatever had been brought home this time which had been mistaken for some.

He approached the kitchens in a manner which could only be described as a stalk, sharp grey gaze taking in the crowd which was gathering around one of the hearths. He saw the young weyrwoman and her equally young weyrleader, and all the others who were little more than children. You were that young once Elizabeth commented. Lies! Z'tan shot back, though his mental tone was amuzed [I was never that young A bit of truth to that statement. Z'tan had been eighteen when he had come to the weyr, a full journeyman making his first trek. Some of those he saw gathering around were of age to be barely into their apprenticeships.

"Looks like your setting to cram the whole weyr in here" Z'tan said without preamble. "You sure these are firelizard eggs? Seen an adult out tending the nest or some such?" The question was aimed at the young kin rider whom Z'tan assumed had brought the eggs in, since he rather doubted the weyrleadership or any of the various candidates here would have found them, and those were the groups closest the eggs.
