Elyna
Basics
Basics
Name: Elyna
Age: 15
Season of Birth: Winter
Birth Hold/Weyr:Fort hold
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual (it might not be needed, but she’ll probably get lots of crushes)
Rank: Candidate (Also an apprentice harper)
Appearance
Eye Color:Blue
Hair Color:Brown
Height:4’11”
Build:Small
Overall Description:
Elyna is absolutely adorable, and really that just about sums her up. She’s short, and thin, with big blue eyes and rather chubby cheeks. She has the potential to mature into an incredibly beautiful woman: her hair is thick and richly colored and gloriously healthy, her face has a pleasing shape to it, and the onset of puberty has left her skin with remarkably few blemishes.
Personality
Likes:The color yellow, honesty, pretty women, pretty things in general
Dislikes:False compliments, mean people, the color brown
Strengths:Brave, determined, somewhat clever, passionate about her work, pretty voice
Weaknesses:Emotional, nervous, SO TINY, easily freaked out by violence/gore/death, possibly a little too passionate about her work
Overall Description: In some ways, Elyna is a perfectly average young girl. She’s happy, mostly carefree (at least up until now), largely innocent, and she tends to treat all those little ups and downs of childhood and adolescence as MASSIVELY IMPORTANT. Other relatively ordinary traits she happens to possess are intense passion, a love of stereotypically “girly” things, and being a rather hopeless romantic (though the more traditional minded might not expect her to be so interested in other women). She’s friendly, and talkative, almost to the point of excess, and gets lonely quite easily.
Perhaps a bit less average is the passion that she pours into her work. Being a Harper is (or at least was) the single most important part of her life; a large chunk of her identity is built upon it. She rarely ever complains about her work, and is absolutely obsessed with improving. Although compliments are appreciated, she greatly prefers honest and constructive criticism, and is surprisingly good at handling such a thing for her age. Being kidnapped from the Harper hall has caused her quite a bit of distress. Though she finds the notion of dragonriding to be romantic, and still sees them more as noble protectors than as evil tyrants, that doesn’t mean she wants to be one!
History
Mother:Lyrana – Journeyman Baker
Father:Pelar – Master Healer
Siblings:Paran – older brother, apprentice healer
Children:N/A
Background: Neither Lyrana nor Pelar were the sort to believe in such a silly thing as destiny, but to those observing the romance between them develop, it couldn’t be anything but. Overachieving, methodological, and ruthlessly ambitious, they met at a gather and quickly grew close. The passion in their relationship was distant, restrained, but for them it was more than enough. Every part of their life that could be (and several things that really couldn’t) they charted out together, from their careers, to the day they would be married, to how many children they would have. Fortunately, this seems to have worked out well for them, as Paran came right on schedule, followed three turns later by Elyna, also on schedule.
Their eldest was much like them: distant, methodological, and an overachiever to the extreme. Like with everything else, Lyrana and Pelar quickly had his entire life planned out for him. He was to be a healer, like his father. He never objected to this, despite not having a say in his future, and in fact, seemed to enjoy the lessons his father started giving him while he was still young. In many ways, he was the perfect, model son.
Elyna… was not nearly so ideal. Outgoing, emotional, and constantly in need of attention, she was the opposite of her parents in basically every way. They had absolutely no idea what to do with her; her voice and her social nature made choosing a craft easy – in their eyes, she could be nothing but a harper - but they were clueless as to how to raise her. Structure, resources, discipline were all things that they knew how to provide but this was a child that needed love and affection, and though they felt no shortage of either, showing it was another thing entirely. At least, much like her brother, she never protested her chosen future.
Life for Elyna was a bit lonely growing up. She had no shortage of friends, but her family was emotionally absent from her life. No amount of friends could make up for her life at home. Becoming an apprentice at Harper Hall was a blessing. It gave her time away from her family, and her teachers paid her more attention than her parents ever had. She threw herself into her studies with a fervor that surprised everyone – perhaps she had taken after her parents after all – and quickly became a favorite. Her craft became her life, and she practiced it… pretty much all the time.
Then, when she was 15 turns old, her life was changed forever. A rider on a search raid spotted her during one of the rare occasions she was enjoying some time alone, and decided to take her. She fought. She fought hard. She bit him and kicked him in the balls. Alas, it was all for naught. At 15 turns old she found herself at Sabishi weyr, with a clutch due to hatch in mere days…
Oremiath
Dragon/Wher Name: Oremiath
Dragon/Wher Color: Kohaku
Parents: Midori Nagith and Aoi Keasurath
Mind Voice: Deep and most decidedly masculine. Often sounds amused.
General Appearance: He’s at the smaller end of the size range for his color, growing to be about 35 feet in length as an adult. Overall he’s a rather dark, dull orange color, with lighter, brighter bits on his underside and ridges.
Personality: First and foremost, Oremiath is lazy. Really, really lazy. He’s slow and lazy and tends to dilly dally with pretty much everything. He’s also forgetful. Of course, forgetful is a trait possessed by… basically every Pernese dragon, but he takes it above and beyond. To complicate matters, he is often too lazy to even bother to pull the information he needs from Elyna’s mind. Of course, he’s also pretty proud, so he probably won’t ever directly admit to these failings.
That said, he does have his good traits too. He’s relaxed, and not particularly prone to emotional outbursts, traits that are incredibly valuable when bonded to someone like Elyna.
