Overall Description: Haruka is a taller girl, at 5'8". Her build is well toned as she exercises regularly to keep in top performance. Her face is oval, with wide spaced almond shaped eyes, a somewhat prominent nose and full lips. She is also graced with dimples on both cheeks. Combined with her high cheekbones, they form rosy little apples.

Her hair is mid back length, and wavy, in a rich red-brown color. Haruka's eyes are a medium brown and her skin tone is warm with a slight yellow tinge. Her body is long and lanky, but suited to her favorite activities.

Overall Description: Though Haruka usually acts confident on the outside, she has many mixed feelings on the inside. She feels brave when she's with friends, but sometimes being left alone or helpless makes her feel weak and useless, which cut her down even more. She is loyal, but sometimes her own personality can get the best of her. Even though she is the Weyrwoman, it doesn't mean that she can blow things off whenever she doesn't feel like doing something, and that message can sometimes get lost in translation for her. It seems to be stuck in her head that if she can find others to do the work, she doesn't have to help often, though she will never say no to a trip on Nagith.

Haruka has always had a great loyalty towards family and Weyr. She feels it's her duty to help those in need to be the best they can, and to accomplish those things that she was never able to do (though she won't always admit to it). She has a deep love for friends, and that helps her loyalty shine bringer than anything else about her. It is truly her friends who make her what she is, as she could have never controlled her more unruly ways if she had never met those who could calm her down.

Her brash, unruly side can get in the way of the softer heart within, and that becomes a problem in rough situations. She will go in head first with her fists flying, not considering what her actions will bring afterwards. Even in great danger, she is the first to lash out and the first to lay a hand on the antagonist or bully, and this can sometimes lead to worse situations than the original problem. She has a big heart and an even bigger head (sometimes), but sometimes her eyes are bigger than her heart; it doesn't always end up well.

Haruka can have short moments where her competitiveness is overwritten, such as when enjoying a large feat of amazingness with others. She feels awkward, though, accepting such as a loss or tie in this situation, but she's surprisingly docile on this occasion.

Though most who do not know her personally see her as an arrogant, headstrong, lazy Weyrwoman; Haruka is nothing like that when you truly know her. Sure, she can be those things from time to time, but her friends bring out the best in her, and that's what makes her shine. Throughout the years, she has been there for her friends through every hardship; no one can deny that. She will always do her best to help whenever she is needed.

Background: As far as Haruka knows, she was born in Sabishi, in the late summer to a pair of weyrmated riders. She already had two older brothers, and soon had a younger sister. She had a relatively quiet childhood, getting into no more trouble than the average WeyrBrat, but under the watchful eye of the Weyr didn't have any serious problems. 

What she didn't know was that her real family was somewhere else entirely. She was actually born to the Lord and Lady Holder of Fort, twin to Illena. Her name was due to be Lexila, but there was an intentional mix up in the records, and to all intents and purposes, Lexila (Haruka) was stillborn. The girl was smuggled to the Weyr by a dragon sympathizer, with the intentions that she be raised as a Weyrbrat and become a candidate when she was old enough. Haruna was the mother who had given birth to a stillborn child, but as Haruka looked enough like the couple, she was switched for the dead child. So to everyone's knowledge except the people involved in the switch, Haruka was really born from Haruna and S'kar.

She was competitive from a young age, always betting people she could do things, whether she could actually do them or not. She even stood for the clutch that hatched her dragon on a dare.

She had been dared to Stand, and did so out of gumption. She was confidant that a super awesome and amazing dragon would Impress her. She actually wanted a lower rank, smaller dragon since it would be fast. So she was surprised as anyone when the Midori of the clutch hatched and Impressed the young girl. But the dragon always knows, as they say.

She resented the restrictions put on her for being a Queenrider, and escaped whenever she could manage to get away, much to the chagrin of the Weyrwoman. She was very good at finding others to do the hard or "busy" work while she went out to run, and later, fly with Nagith.

She did buckle down enough to manage to graduate to a full rider, and joined the Queen's Wing, though there was no Thread yet. She wasn't sure if Thread would return, but the baleful Red Star hang in the sky was enough to keep her satisfied.

When Nagith had her first Flight, Haruka was unable to get her to Blood, so it was short and unsatisfying. Nagith only laid a mere ten eggs, though they did hatch into healthy Weyrlings.

Haruka promised herself to never repeat such an incident, so when next Nagith rose, the girl focused hard, finally getting the Midori to obey. The resulting clutch was much better, and Haruka couldn't have been prouder.

A few turns passed, and Haruka slowly grew into her role as a Queenrider and Junior Weyrwoman. She still fostered off any duties she could, but she was there when she was needed.

About a half turn ago, the Weyr realized that the Senior Weyrwoman's Midori hadn't Risen, and when queried, it was found that she was unlikely to ever Rise again, so the woman stepped down, leaving the position to Haruka. She took control grudgingly, as she was the only Midori Rider in the Weyr, the other two Queenriders on Shiroi.

Not too long after that, Nagith Flew once more, making a young Aoirider the new Weyrleader. Three months passed, and Nagith laid a clutch of 25 eggs, with one having the distinctive green hued shell indicating a Midori Queen. The Weyr somehow managed to round up the right number of Candidates, and other than one dragon who was dead in the shell, all of the babies Impressed and became Weyrlings.

Shortly before the Hatching though, a Kin rider, Tiona, found a batch of eggs on the beach. Come to find out, they were Firelizard eggs. Haruka claimed one, and it ended up hatching into a Kin which she named Racer.

So now Haruka is back to being a Weyrwoman, though she takes time to make sure her new Jr, Zuri, is learning all she needs to know about being a Midori-rider.
