Nyriayr
The afternoon sun beat down on the Weyrbowl, finding Nyriayr leaning against the post of one of the runner pens. Inside the pen were his two runners, Oisa and Epolo. The runners weren't saddled or bundled down with packs or anything, but free to run about and both seemed to be enjoying the cool breeze and afternoon sun. Nyr was watching the mare and her stallion son, arms crossed, shaking his head as he watched the young stud rear up on his back hooves while his mother kicked out at her son though they were far enough apart that he could tell neither were trying to hurt each other.
Sitting on each shoulder were his new flit hatchlings, ichigo Lars and kin Rao. Neither were truly interested in joining the dust rising fun that the runners were having, but Lars had his wings flared behind Nyr's head, as if egging the runners on. Rao was more interested in playing in Nyr's hair that anything. Standing beside Nyr, outside the runner pen and with her front paws on the second railing, his black panther Mrreow was watching the runners play. She seemed like she wanted to join but Nyr had told her it wouldn't be a good idea until she was a little bigger and the runners were use to having her underfoot.
Are you sure I can't go play with them? They look like their having fun!
Looking down, Nyr reached a hand down and placed it on the Mrreow's head, lightly running his fingers over her silky fur, rubbing her ear between his fingers. "Oisa might not mind, but Epolo is still pretty young. I don't want him to accidentally hurt you when you are just trying to play with him. He still has a lot of work and growing to do," Nyr stated, hearing his Mrreow almost whine. Like me? He couldn't help but chuckle as the Mrreow spoke. "Yes, my little one. Like you," he offered, looking back at the runners. His stud had his neck arched and was stamping one front hoof in his direction, as if challenging him. He would eventually completely break the stud but at the moment, the constant challenge gave Nyr something to work with every day and keep his mind off things of the past.
