Let me just grab a beast or two and then we can get back to work patrolling , T'hexMine, T'hex heard, as he was in his private weyr. There was a noise behind him and when he glanced back, Syrlith was gone from the ledge and he could just see his forked tail tip slipping down off the ledge. He nodded, more to himself than anyone else, not that there was anyone else in the their weyr. He turned back to his pack and begin pulling out the old clothes and stuffing in new ones.
Recently, T'hex and Syrlith had volunteered to explore close by Holds for potential Candidates. The Kohaku was a little sensitive, but it was more T'hex going into the Holds and seeing which ones would allow Riders in and which ones weren't friendly toward them. He's make a report, give it to his Wingleader and Weyrleader and then other, more Search sensitive dragons would be sent out to either offer chances or take. It broke his heart to take a Candidate from their home, but these were the times they lived in. The scrolls he had read once while listening to a Wing meeting had said that this hadn't always been the way, but when one wasn't able to put Candidates before the eggs to Stand, dragons were lost. if dragons were lost, and Thread did return . . . They were out of luck.
Standing up, and stretching out his body that was getting a little sore from all the riding, T'hex went over his mental check list while looking at the few bags before him. Clothes, check. Food, check. Little list of Holds for this trip, check. He placed a small bag strap across his chest that held the list and a few other items he may want to get ahold of in flight. The other bags would be held by Syrlith, but he had some rope to tie them to the back of his saddle, least the Kohaku get tired. With his list gone through in his mind, T'hex decided to join Syrlith.
It was a bit of a walk without Syrlith's help to get to the Feeding Grounds, but by the time he made it there, he could tell that Syrlith was hungry than he had said. "You should have told me, Sy . . . I'd have brought us home before visiting that last Hold," he said as he got closer and found three beast on the ground and Syrlith working on his fourth. Those reports needed in. Eggs are on the Sands and we don't have enough Candidates, the Kohaku rumbled, trying to eat quickly without making himself sick. He was just as ready to get back out to their mission as T'hex was. "Just take your time," he stated, taking up a seat on a low rock and letting his mind wonder for a bit, his rare free time.
