Little one . . . I know it is hard, but you will need to hunt on your own. It's time to get a little blood on your muzzle, the Kohaku instructed the young Chairo, while their Riders watched from outside the fence. Looking at the Kohaku giant and the young Chairo that had a lot of growing to do, the Chairo Weyrling couldn't help but worry a little about his dragon while he and the Kohaku stood out in the fields and he and the Kohakurider stood at the fences watching.
"Tentoth will be fine . . . Syrlith won't let anything happen to him," T'hex, the Kohakurider, stated, leaning against the fence while he looked over at the Chairo Weyrling sitting on the top rung of the fence. "I've seen you two around the Weyr and noticed that he's had some issues adjusting to hunting for his own meat."
"The Weyrling Master said that it may take him just a little longer to get to that point but he has been doing well enough on larger cuts of meat verses me having to cut it into tiny pieces," V'ndo, the Chairo Weyrling offered. He was actually glad the older Rider had pulled him aside and offered to have his dragon help Tentoth. He was highly worried that Tentoth's timid nature would cause him to be underdeveloped and having someone stepping up to help him was a relief.
They watched as the Kohaku and Chairo dragons moving back and forth in the field and watching the Kohaku bring down a herdbeast and then take the time to show the young Chairo exactly where to strike and how to bring down the herdbeast quickly and effectively.
