One Sevenday After Touching Mid-afternoon
Nagith was dozing, basking in the warm sands. She shifted slightly, and feels something hit her foot. She cracked an eye open, rumbling softly. What met her eye was the gentle rocking of a few eggs in her clutch. Finally! Her clutch was ready. A deep hum started, quickly spreading as other dragons picked it up.
It's time! It's time! Nagith shouted into the mind of everyone in the Weyr.
Haruka rushed from her room to the Hatching Sands, eager to watch what would happen, and where the babies would end up. She had suspected two queens from the get go, though over the course of the last Sevenday, Nagith had pulled the Snow and the Dark eggs aside, settling them next to the obviously Midori egg. Judging from what she knew, that meant the third egg might contain a queen as well. It wasn't unheard of, but it was rare. She wasn't sure what might hatch from that egg however.
She made her way to the part of the Stands closest to Nagith, wanting to be near her dragon, but out of the heated sands. She tapped a foot impatiently, waiting for the Candidates to arrive.
Climber woke her more than the voice in her head as he bit her ear and let it be known that she would be one of the first on the sands as she was the best candidate and they needed to assert their place. Panic filled her as she threw on her boots and ran her hands through her long dark hair. Grabbing her robe she threw it over her head and ran like shells to the sands. Making it there almost first she slid into the candidate master and smiled nervously.
"Candidate Itessi reporting for um...duty?" she said sleepily. A grin busting out of her fear and spreading over her face. She watched as others arrived and nearly bounced around as the ones she was closest to made it. Climber was humming and rubbing his head against her cheek happily at her place and sending her excited thoughts to help her concentrate. "Climber off to the stands go find the pretty queen flit and show her how amazing you are you silly creature. I love you to." she said petting his head nob before sending him off with a hiss and a nudge.
This was it, do or don't, make it or fail. She knew she was on the older side for a candidate so she wouldn't get many more chances but something just told her to take it easy and wait and see what happens. There was a reason she was here, and a reason things had gone the way they had. Her mind still couldn't get the Dark egg out of it and the feel of a dragon mind from all the others. She knew the Midori baby was going to be a great leader and a caring one at that and that made her happy for the weyr and Pern.
He had been dreaming of this moment since they had touched the eggs, but he hadn't imagined that he would have been in the bath when it came. He had quickly gotten out, barely drying off before slipping into his white robes. They were a little big on him, well, long really, but not enough to get in the way.
He dashed down to the hatching grounds, slowing as he got closer. Snake was thankfully off doing his own thing, and Khetzar had made sure to tell his flit not to come. Whether he'd listen or not was entirely different, but at least he had tried.
Khetzar bounced up and down as he looked around for his friends. He was sure that they would all impress, and he couldn't wait to see all of the dragons that were soon to hatch.
Veronica and Servat had been with their older sister Akaeanna as they were helping her oil her Shiroi dragon when the call reached them. Akadeanna says, "Go change! I will see you two later." The twins quickly left their sister and ran to go change into the hatching robes. The two ran towards the sands stopping just behind Itessi
With it being the middle of the afternoon break, Zurianna had been taking full advantage of her time off. For once she wasn't spending it with her daughters, instead taking some personal time. She had brushed out and re-braided her hair, oiled Tor and played with him for a while and then settled in to read an old record she had borrowed from the archive.
Nagith's call startled her, Zuri's hands tightening on the record enough to crease it. Quickly she smoothed it out again and then rolled it up and put it away. Tor had already begun to hum, the bronze dragonet sitting on the head of the bed and sticking his nose into Zuri's ear. The woman laughed and batted him away as she got to her feet.
Her robe was easy to find, hanging neatly on a hanger off a hook on the wall. Ever since the touching, Zuri had been keeping it out so that it would be neat and clean when the time came for the hatching, rather than creased from being kept in the bottom of clothing chest. She stripped off her clothing quickly, hanging them over the end of the bed, and pulled on the white robe which marked her as a candidate.
The sands were already busy when Zurianna reached them, the stands filling with watching people and the eggs rocking as the candidates gathered around them. She took the time to bow to Nagith, bending low as befitted the obeisance of a candidate to the senior queen. Then Zuri took her place, eyes fixing on the trio of eggs which had been pulled aside, recalling the sensations when she had touched the Midori egg and the biggest egg which now rested with it.
--------------- .: Rhiasyn :. Tag: Itessi
Rhiasyn had never seen a hatching before. Zhe might be of the blood of Benden, but not even their most vaunted bloodline was given to attending the precious moments of dragons hatching, despite their close ties to the weyr which had once born the same name as their own holding. Sometimes yes, but rarely, and Rhiasyn had never been one of those who had traveled to such an event. Now zhe had the chance to see this magic for zherself and zhe was not going to miss it.
Zhe had snuck onto the grounds on touching day, lurking in the shadows on the entrance and watching as those who had been searched walking among the shells, letting their hands lay upon the hardening eggs. There had been a flash of jealousy towards Itessi that day when zhe had spotted zher friend touching the eggs, even as zhe knew that Itessi was not here by choice. Though in truth neither was zhe. There was someone out there who had put a price on zher head and until they were found, the weyr was the only place which could be considered even somewhat safe for zher, the incident in her own rooms in Benden had proven that.
When the queen called, Rhia was ready. Zher clothing choice was simple, pants and a blouse, Rhia reasoning that anything fancy would be better suited to the evening and the feasting which would happen to celebrate the beginning of the new lives of those most fortunate enough to be chosen for impression.
Zhe was one of the first to reach the stands, and found zherself a place in the lowest sections, where zhe could most clearly see what was happening. Zhe waved to Itessi when zhe saw the Lady take to the sands, and then looked at the eggs, wondering if one might contain her match. Rhia had wondered if she could get word out to Itessi's family to let them know where she was, but Rhia in truth had little contact with the outside world zherself. It was safer that way, no chance of intercepted messages letting people know where zhe was, but it wasn't an easy thing.
Turning zher mind away from those pointlessly circling thoughts, Rhia focused instead on the eggs, wondering what would come of them.
--------------- .: Ailexyan :.
Lex had always been a man of great energy. In the time since the touching however, that constant restlessness had increased. It was always this way. Once he had gotten a touch of those shells, a chance to make them truly real in his mind, then it became so impossibly difficult to wait patiently for the day of hatching to arrive. Outside of his work, Lex had really never been much good at waiting patient and quiet.
When Nagith called, he had just finished a shift in smithy. This wasn't craft work, but rather a project of his own, something he was devoting his own free time towards making. He had wanted to try his hand at the delicate work of crafting jeweler and while he'd had a few false starts, his piece was nearly done now and he was proud of it.
He had barely left, only just stepping into the baths which had been his first port of call after finishing his work, when the queen spoke to the weyr. He took a moment to pour some water over himself, wiping away the worst of the work with a cloth and rubbing a hand through his hair. He did not have time for a more thorough clean, but he had time for this, for experience said that dragon eggs rarely hatched right away, and a quick clean would leave him looking at least somewhat presentable and feeling far better than if he did not.
The robe he pulled on didn't fit quite right and Lex sighed as he dumped his dirty things into the washing. It seemed that he had grown out of this one, putting on muscle around the arms which meant the shoulders no-longer sat right. At least he had stopped growing upwards. That had been embarrassing, needing a new robe every hatching because he had gotten too tall for the last even as he had remained an awkwardly built teen in shape.
Still, there was nothing which could be done now except go out onto the sands. With that hoped for turn in his luck, he might not need a new one at all. Perhaps his dragon would be in this clutch, making all the turns of standing worth it with the moment when he was chosen. As Ailexyan took his place among the other candidates, he looked to the eggs and let himself hope.

.|. Seryn .|.
The time had finally come! Hearing Nagith's call had Seryn leaving her guards behind in her dust and little Devil hanging on to her shirt tail, which probably made her look a little comical racing through the Weyr. She could barely contain herself. The eggs were about to Hatch and she would finally be able to see whether or not she was worthy of one of the dragons within.
By the time she reached the Sands, she noticed a few others Candidates had already arrived and she waved a greeting to each of them, silently wishing them luck on this new adventure.
.|. Vorendo .|.
The broadcasted news of the Hatching brought a halt to everything in the Weyr. Which meant Vorendo was out of luck if he even wants to stay away from the Sands during this time. Of course, he didn't, no body did. Hence why all the Weyrfolk was closing up their shops and dropping what they were doing to head toward the Sands to watch the event.
"Come on Nyrr. Lets go welcome the new dragons!" he stated, glancing down at the canine at his feet. With his booths closed up, the young Tanner and his companion headed toward the Sands. Once there, they took a seat on the lower stands at the edge so they could get a good view of everything.

.:.Jenesys.:.
Ophelia whined and whimpered from her perch on top of Jenesys, her human was hurting and she couldn't figure out why. Pawing at the furs she suddenly snapped her head up when she heard the commotion around her, of people moving and voices raised. Hissing viciously she glared bright red eyes at anyone who came near her Jenesys. It didn't take long for everything to go quiet again and again she turned to the trembling mound under her paws.
Jenesys had heard the call...but could he do this. Over the time since the Touching he'd thought...thought and wondered what he had believed himself to be all his life was true or was it false. The Shadow Egg had begun to make him distrust that he was what his parents had raised him as...was he a girl? Curling more in on himself he held back the tears...wondering if...if his mind...what he saw himself as would cause a dragon to Between because he mentally and spiritually wasn't there for them, no matter if his physically body was there. He was jostled out of his thoughts when Ophelia began to cry again and he slowly sat up, pushing the furs down to cradle his little Chairo, nuzzling against her as she cooed right back at him.
"I don't know if what I am is right...but a dragon who looks in your soul would known better then someone on the outside...right?" he said to no one in particular. With that thought in mind he pulled himself from bed and dressed in his robes before making his way to the Hatching Sands, Ophelia hiding in his hair and nuzzling into his neck affectionately.
.:.Orion.:.
Orion had ben up before dawn, enjoying the cool morning before he'd had t make his way inside and away from the rising sun. Since then he'd been assisting his father with woodwork inside of the Weyr and away from the glowing orb in the sky that seemed to want to burn him at every chance it was in the sky. The call came while he was carving into a new pillar for the Dining Hall and he looked up before turning to his father. The large man only nodded, smiling reassuringly to his son as he dropped what he was doing to go and fetch his wife and make his way to the Stands. Wondering if he'd be able to make it across the Bowl and into the Barracks without getting burned...he decided it was worth the risk to possibly Impress a dragon. Maneuvering through the shadows that were still in the Bowl he soon stepped into the Baracks where people were frantically trying to get ready. He had to shoot out his arm to steady one of the younger boys as he ran by and almost falling to the floor in his haste.
"Take your time, you won't be worth anything to a dragon if you kill yourself first," he chuckled before moving along to his own bunk and dressed. Many gave him a strange look...his robe were white...he was white...was he even wearing anything??! Of course he was and he didn't care one bit about what others thought as he finished dressing and walked out onto the Sands, breathing in the heated air as he took his place among the others.
Nagith's call reached Kelyra moments before Wilde's form crashed into the air above her - squawking so loud you might suspect she was trying to hatch the dragon's by sound alone! "Time? Wilde?" Wilde's mind shared an image of the clutch - as she dove and bat at Kelyra, dragging her towards the door. Realisation dawned, "Oh! It's time!" Kelyra stopped to retrieve her candidate's robe and her sandals - much to Wilde's annoyance. As Wilde swooped her out the door, Kelyra began the awkward motion of trying to run down the Weyr halls whilst replacing her top for her robe. The leather ties were tight as she moved, making her curse. No thoughts of modesty filled her as she flung her towards one of the halls, before she slipped into her top. She hadn't enough of a figure to be modest about anyway.
Wilde's excited calls and chitters chased her through the weyr - torn between wanting to see the eggs - and ensuring Kelyra didn't get lost as she often had in the past. Though today everyone moved in one direction, making the Weyr tunnels easy to navigate.
Kelyra slipped between the hurrying bodies, pulling herself towards the front. Wilde slipped away somewhere, leaving Kelyra alone when she realised she had just pushed past the crowd and now had to line up with the other candidates. She paused - unsure of herself. Eyes watched her - and she wanted to stand by her friends. With a nervous smile Kelyra stepped into the middle - looking from face to face. Itessi was there - as were most of the other's. Though she didn't spot Vosrik - which worried her. Stepping onto the end of the line closest to the middle, she offered a nervous but excited smile towards them all.
Wilde
Wilde was pleased with herself - she'd kept her Kelyra from getting lost in the Weyr. She stood on the hot sand now, ready to help the new dragons. And Wilde had her own important job to do. Wheeling through the air, she came down on top of a perch. She actually aimed to land on the tip of Climber's tail - enjoying the darker flit's protests and contests. She liked to annoy Climber. He wasn't a bronze - but he had something that made bothering him fun.
But today she didn't have time to tease and chirp at the smaller flit - today she had an important job! She had to lead them all in song for the clutch! So she let her chest purr into a deep rumble, fanning her wings at anyone she felt wasn't doing it right until the entire chorus fell into tune. A beautiful low hum to fill the cavern with their joy and song for Nagith and her clutch!

Anna heard the call, and she bounced happily. Finally, a chance to be a Rider like Korra was. She rushed from the kitchens to her barracks, leaving the sinkfull of dishes behind without a second thought.
She quickly slipped into her robes, fumbling with it in her haste. She finally got it pulled down and made her way through the crowd to wait with the others on the sands already. She looked to the spectators, looking for Korra. She wanted her sister to be watching. She didn't see her in her first look, but people were still arriving, so she just might not be here yet. Anna turned back to the rocking eggs.
Anjeerill dropped what he had been doing the second the humming started. Everyone who was anyone knew what that meant. His task forgotten, Anjeerill made his way to his cot, to get the white robes of a Candidate.
He was excited, as the Touching had left him with some things to think about and consider. More than one of the eggs responded to him, so he intended to keep a careful eye on those. Either way though, he was happy to see the eggs finally hatch.

People were still filing into the Stands as the eggs rocked harder. A sudden hush went over as a loud CRACK! sounded out. Everyone scanned the clutch to figure out which egg had made the noise.
The culprit ended up being the Twilight egg, as the shell broke cleanly in have, leaving a purple hued dragon with a darker marking over her head and neck sitting in the Sands. She shook herself and stalked towards the Candidates. Shortly after, the Earth egg hatched, the shell breaking off in pieces, finally revealing a gorgeous black and green creature. His body was a dark charcoal grey, but he had nebulous splotches of green splayed over his hide. He made his way towards the candidate, creeping along the sands.
One of the larger eggs chose to hatch next, breaking apart and leaving a dark blue Hatchling behind. As he shook himself off and scratched at a spot on his belly, his lighter toes showed up. He seemed to be content sitting where he was, though he did turn to look over the males that were gathered.

The loud crack made Jenesys startle but his eyes were immediately glued to the hatchlings...they were gorgeous.. Swallowing he could only watch silently, fingers trembling as he watched two come towards the candidates while the other settle in the sand and simply watched. When the eggs began to hatch Orion couldn't help but stand a bit straighter. He'd never been a part of a Hatching before...many thought because he was Albino he was unfit to be a rider but he'd show them...he'd show all of them that he was worthy and that he could be a rider.

Three eggs seemed to hatch close together, spilling out three young dragons. The first two seemed to have had enough with waiting and were heading across the Sands toward the Candidates which brought up Seryn's heart rate. She watched the three with high interest.

The CRACK the stopped the Weyr was one that brought great joy to the Weyr. New dragons were walking along the Sands!! Nyrr let out a long howl, as if joining the dragons in their humming.

Akadeanna took to the stands while her Shiori took to one of the ledges humming for the new dragoents to come. She smiles spotting her twin siblings on the sands as well, it brought back the memories of her first standing and then when she impressed Aleth and she smiles, Sk'lar sat next to Akadeanna as Belarth joined Aleth in the ledges.
.:Veronica & Servat:.
Veroncia and Servat watch as the first 3 eggs hatch; both were in awe at the 3 new hatchlings. Veronica watches the first and Servat watched the other two wondering who the 3 would impress. Veronica wondering if this was what it was like for their older sister her first time.

As the Murasaki moved through the Candidates, looking for her bonded, she had her wings spread to keep her balance. The clumsy beast moved past Lex, catching him in the arm and leaving a scratch from her wing-claw. She didn't even notice, so intent was she. The creature moved on, sniffing at the feet of Khetzar, looking at him with her head tilted slightly.
Her brother the KuroiMidori was over near the girls, looking over them all carefully. His creeling got louder, the more he had to look. His eyes were whirling faster and he wasn't paying attention, knocking into Seryn, crawling over her, leaving long scratches across her legs as he moved on.
Another egg hatched, the Nighttime, revealing a lovely Gin, pewter grey in tone with lighter silver under her wings, along her feet and over her ridges. She wandered over to the boys first, very careful in her steps. She paused for a long time at Jenesys, and though she reached out with a soft, accepting mind, she moved on to the girls.
The Aoi from before had seemed to be watching the boys, judging from afar. He finally moved, going over to examine them more. He paused at Lex, then moved on to Orion. His eyes narrowed and he growled, his tail whipping in irritation. Orion caught the limp along the side of his legs, though unlike the Kuroi, the Aoi actually paused to see if Orion was alright. With a shake of his head he continued down the line. He stopped at Servat for a bit, sniffing him up and down. With a huff, he stalked on.
It actually took him a moment to realize that he had already passed by the boy who was meant to be his, and he turned quickly, knocking over another boy in his haste(NPC). He traveled back up the line of boys, sniffing at them, until he reached Khetzar. He nudged the Murasaki out of the way to be in front of the boy. She squawked and fell to the sands, having a hard time getting up again.
There you are Kh'zar-mine. I thought you weren't here for a bit there. I am Gomath. He tilted his head, looking at Kh'zar. Get me some food. He demanded suddenly, not even bothering to ask.
The Gin began springing lightly as she found the mind of hers. She raced over the line of girls, though she was careful to not hit any one them. She paused at Veronica, but then moved on, stopping in front of Annajin.
Annajin-mine! Your Laureath is right here. She said, her eyes whirling rainbow as Impression was made.
Annajin gasped happily as the Gin came to her. She wasn't sure if she would have Impressed or not. And a dragon close to her sister's at that. She idly wonder if any of their other siblings were here, would they Impress similar ranks, or not. Laureath had to headbutt the girl lightly to bring her back to earth.
R'van settled down on his perch atop Karaith. He wasn't feeling too social today but he wouldn't miss this if he could help it. Hatchings tended to reaffirm the bond he had with his Gin, at least when they didn't result in horrible injuries or betweened dragonets. His dark brown hair was wildly splayed over his face due to his posture, and now and then he absently shoved it out of his hazel eyes to behind his ears. Look... they're arriving! the Gin murmured unnecessarily with a dip of her elegant snout. Wistfully she regarded the pretty babies, the hope for the next generation strong at that moment.
Who do you think will Impress first? R'van asked idly.
That Murasaki seems to have some ideas... It was just speculation, but it seemed reasonable. The odd black and green one was moving more slowly. Still, there might be some last-minute scrambling to find the perfect match, so R'van was with holding judgment himself. It would be funny if Karaith was right though.
Turned out, she wasn't, but it didn't matter, or change the joyous cheer that R'van let out. Congratulations must wait, but they would be given in due time.
